Made it safe and sound to Albuquerque. At airport I just needed one more arm so everyone could hold my hand. We worked it out although it was a little tricky going down the escalator.
We are staying at the Ronald McDonald House. What a sweet blessing. Someone brings in a hot dinner every night for those in residence and there is fast breakfast stuff in the kitchen as well as loads of snacks.
Katie, Joe and the kids headed back up the Farmington as soon as I got oriented on Justin's care while in the NICU. He is so tiny but has gained weight nicely. He now weighs 5lbs 2 oz. He has hit most of the milestones that he needs to accomplish before he can go home. Now it's just a matter of training him to breath while he eats. He gets numming on that bottle and forgets to take a breath. There is a technique to holding him at the right angle so the milk goes into his cheek first instead of down his throat and then emptying the nipple after every five sucks if he forgets to stop and breath.
The nursing staff is amazing and so sweet. They made this cute Valentine for him.
Nathan, Julia and Emily made some pictures for him to look at while he is in his bed.
He eats for about 20 minutes and then sleeps for 3 hours. He is so very very sweet.
My teaching partner had a 6-week premie daughter in Dec. instead of Jan. and she is thriving! It's hard to do baby work...eat and grow, eat and grow. We're so glad you are there to help and feel up to the task of caring for an angel.
